SB302- Compassionate Access to Medical Cannabis Act

We should not be drug-testing seniors for cannabis use and forcing them to switch to more severe treatments for ALS or dementia, like opioids and anti-psychotics, as a precondition of receiving healthcare. Today’s unanimous bipartisan vote gives our most vulnerable the dignity they deserve: access to care. It’s not fair that 25 year olds are allowed to seek jobs and obtain healthcare while using cannabis but 75 year olds cannot. If you are 65+, ill and in a healthcare facility no one should stop you from consuming medical cannabis to manage your suffering. I am grateful to my colleagues for prioritizing this immediate need for equity in cannabis for all people no matter how old or where they live.
