Senator Henry Stern Honors Henri’s Restaurant of Canoga Park as Small Business of The Year

June 5, 2017

SACRAMENTO, CA –Today Senator Henry Stern honored Mike Puetz, owner of Canoga Park’s Henri’s Restaurant, at the California Small Business Day Awards Ceremony held in Sacramento.  The annual awards ceremony honors the contributions of small businesses to the State of California.

“Canoga Park is the heart of the 27the Senate District and Henri’s Restaurant is the heart of Canoga Park,” said Senator Stern.  “The Puetz family and all the hardworking staff at Henri’s are the small business anchor of our community. Plus those two eggs over medium with hash browns well done with a side of salsa make me feel at home.”

Senator Stern nominated Henri’s Restaurant for the tireless dedication to building a successful small business that gives back to the community.  While the restaurant’s popularity grew, Puetz maintained a family atmosphere with homemade food and staff smiles.  Over the years, Mike and his staff have sought out various ways to support and enhance the neighborhood, sticking with Canoga Park at a time when others were leaving the area and supporting local venues like the Madrid Theater and the West Valley Playhouse. Henri's Restaurant, a family-owned business, was started in 1972 by Mike’s father, Henri Puetz and the restaurant has been in the family ever since. It started as a small 50-seat coffee shop in Canoga Park and expanded to the 200-seat restaurant it is today.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support we've received from Senator Stern and the community of Canoga Park,” said Henri’s Restaurant owner Mike Puetz.  “In the past decade, Henri’s Restaurant has been able to expand to another location in Oxnard and open a catering side in Canoga Park, fostering more jobs and relationships with the local communities.  Being recognized as the Small Business of the Year is a true honor for our hard-working employees.”
