SACRAMENTO – Senator Henry Stern’s SB 630 was signed on Monday by Governor Newsom. The bill, recently endorsed by the Los Angeles City Council, will empower communities to take a local approach to fight human trafficking by making clear that current law does not prevent a local governing body from acting to prevent slavery or human trafficking.
SACRAMENTO – The Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) yesterday approved a request submitted by a coalition of legislators to examine county practices and make recommendations for treating the gravely disabled. Submitted by Senators Henry Stern, John Moorlach and Scott Wiener and Assemblymembers Phillip Chen, Laura Friedman and Miguel Santiago, the audit will provide critical insight into the application of the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act by Los Angeles County and two other counties selected by the State Auditor.
